How We Raise Our Puppies

Pregnancy Care

At Canary Pawlm Doodles, we provide exceptional care for our pregnant mamas to ensure their health and the well-being of their puppies. Our expecting moms receive a carefully balanced diet, which we gradually increase to support their growing litter, along with NuVet nutritional supplements for optimal health. They also have regular vet checkups and plenty of love and attention. We monitor their progress closely, adjusting their care as needed, and create a calm, comfortable environment for whelping. From early pregnancy to delivery, our priority is their safety, comfort, and a smooth transition into motherhood.

ENS and ESI

At Canary Pawlm Doodles, we begin Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) from day 3 to day 16 to help develop strong, resilient puppies. ENS involves gentle handling exercises that stimulate the nervous system, promoting better stress tolerance, heart health, and overall development. ESI introduces puppies to different scents daily, enhancing their nose sensitivity and confidence.

10 Step Handling

We also implement a 10-step handling process to ensure our puppies are well socialized and comfortable with human touch. This includes gently touching their paws, ears, mouth, and other areas to prepare them for future grooming, vet visits, and everyday handling. Our puppies are also regularly handled by children, including those on the spectrum, and interact with the elderly, helping them adapt to different types of people and develop a well rounded temperament.

Desensitization

To help our puppies adjust to the world, we use desensitization protocols, exposing them to various sounds, textures, and experiences in a safe and controlled way. They hear household noises like vacuum cleaners, fireworks, and thunderstorms, and walk on different surfaces to build confidence and adaptability.

Potty Training

Potty training begins at 3 weeks old, introducing puppies to a designated potty area to encourage cleanliness and make house training easier for their future families. By starting early, they develop a natural habit of keeping their sleeping and play areas clean.

Crate Training

At 4.5 weeks, we introduce crate training, helping puppies see their crate as a safe, comfortable space. This teaches them independence, prevents separation anxiety, and makes nighttime training and travel smoother when they go to their new homes.
